HRH The Princess Royal Wearing Stephen Walters Fabric to the Wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
We were delighted to see HRH The Princess Royal wearing a stunning dress made from Stephen Walters & Sons silk at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last week. The striking red and blue fabric was presented to HRH during her visit to our historic Suffolk Silk Mill in December as president of the UK Fashion and Textile Association.
The Princess Royal, who also chose a Stephen Walters fine satin fabric for her own wedding dress in 1973, was able to see how the mill has remained at the cutting edge of international design and technology since her last visit in 1976.
Stephen Walters & Sons has a long and illustrious history of creating fabrics for royal events, having woven the silk for the Queen’s Coronation in 1953, Prince Charles’ investiture in 1969 and Princess Diana’s wedding dress in 1981.
