Step 1: Consultation & Brief

The journey begins with understanding your vision, making sure that our capabilities are the perfect match for your project. We can meet with you in the familiar surroundings of your workspace or invite you to our mill which is an hour from London.

At this stage, we’ll discuss all aspects of the fabric you’re looking to create, including end use, design direction, fibre preferences and any performance or price considerations. We approach each project collaboratively, taking the time to understand your creative vision and commercial priorities.

Step 2: Concept Development

We find it often helps to start from a fabric reference. Once we have a clear understanding of your brief, we’ll explore fabric qualities, constructions and finishes that align with your vision. Our seasonal collections offer a wide range of existing qualities, providing a useful starting point for evaluating weight, hand feel and fabric characteristics. Together, we’ll review the options, combining preferred elements from selected fabrics to refine and develop a quality that feels right for your project.

Step 3: Artwork Development

Where required, our in-house design team can provide a bespoke artwork development service, creating CADs and visual concepts for consideration. Drawing on our working archive, a unique collection that continues to inspire contemporary design, we can help provide a rich starting point for creative exploration. Alternatively, if your artwork has already been developed by your own team, we can work from your supplied designs.

Step 4: Design Development

Once we have the artwork, fabric quality and colour direction finalised, our technical specialists develop the woven construction, carefully translating your artwork into a woven fabric. At this stage, we provide a woven swatch for review, allowing you to assess the appearance, handle and confirm it meets your requirements.

When the design is approved, we can weave a colour blanket with any additional colourways for selection.

Step 5: Sampling

The development process is complete once your design and colourways have been approved. The next step is weaving your sample order.

Once the fabric has been delivered and samples are made, we always welcome feedback from our customers. Understanding how a fabric performs in the finished garment helps us continuously refine our development process and build valuable knowledge for future projects.

We believe in long-term partnerships rather than one-off transactions. Working with designers and garment manufactureres internationally, we provide ongoing support long after delivery. We’re fortunate to work with many returning clients because our commitment extends beyond the fabric itself, and often see the best outcomes when we work closely with our customers to develop the right fabric for every application.
