Stephen Walters Celebrates the Presentation of The King’s Award for Enterprise

On Friday 21st of November, the Stephen Walters team joined colleagues at Sudbury Silk Mills to welcome Clare, Countess of Euston, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Suffolk, for the formal presentation of The King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development. The Countess, accompanied by members of the Suffolk Lieutenancy, toured the weaving mill to gain a close look at the traditional craftsmanship and technical innovation that define our shared approach to luxury textile manufacturing.

This prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, one of the highest recognitions for UK businesses dedicated to responsible and sustainable practices, was originally announced in May. The award was presented on the weaving floor, a fitting setting that reflects the skill and heritage that goes into our fabrics. The visit highlighted the mill’s long-standing commitment to responsible manufacturing, including industry-leading practices in waste reduction and resource efficiency.

For Stephen Walters, the King’s Award in Enterprise represents an important milestone as it reinforces our commitment to making beautiful textiles responsibly. We are proud to contribute to a legacy which balances creativity with care for the environment.

Following the presentation, guests and team members gathered for a small reception and group photographs to commemorate this significant moment. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with our customers and partners to build on the innovation and expertise recognised by this award.
